Join Marilyn in the west of Ireland (Mayo & Connemara) for
a workshop set on the hills of Mulranny village overlooking Clew
Bay in County Mayo. Students are housed in a comfortable setting
with private rooms and great sea views. Delicious homemade meals
are served in the large country dining room with a big open fireplace
and plenty of room to gather for social evenings.
Scenic adventures are organized during
your stay with time to see some of the west of Ireland and visit
places of interest. You will also meet other talented local Irish
artists. Classes are held on days 3, 4 & 6 with time to relax
and work on your projects in between. Private bus tours with guide
are arranged for shopping the local towns of westport and/or Castlebar,
a visit to Hennigans Heritage center, the Country Life Museum
(very interesting!) and the Foxford Woolen Mills. After visiting
with fiber artist Suzie Sullivan, you will drive through the beautiful
Connemara
Mountains into Galway, past Ashleigh Falls and on to Leenane where
you can visit the Sheep and Wool Museum. During your stay you
will see famous Harry Clarke stained glass windows in Newport
church, walk through the ruins of Burrishoole Abbey and climb
the spiral staircase in Grace O'Malley's castle.
