Coiled Brooch and Necklace
All Weaving Levels
6 hour class
Coil a medallion, using embroidery floss, and polished
hemp, and make a brooch and a necklace. Embellish with beads and charms,
and then learn the knotting technique which makes a unique looking cord,
to form the necklace.
Students should complete both projects in the class time.
Students should bring with them scissors, and a small light. Even though
I will provide beads for the projects, students may wish to bring their
own to add to their pieces.
Lets Put a Lid on It

Two Day Class
Learn the beauty and control of waxed linen coiling. This time make
a small basket and make a lid that fits it. Using three colors of waxed
linen, wire as an accent, and polished hemp for the core, coil an amazingly
strong little basket, a colorful addition to your basketry collection.

Two day Class
Using Marilyns unique method of color blending using copper strips
and copper wire for spokes, explore the use of fine magnet wire as a twining
material. Your "Little Jewel" will glow when the light hits
it, truly a work of art.
Students should bring: Small wire cutters, micro clips, chain nose pliers,
Embroidery needles sizes 1-5. Personal light and extension cord are
optional, but useful.
It's a Rattle
All Weaving levels
Crocheting experience is helpful
One day class
Using heat treated wire cloths of different metals,
wire, and beads of different types, learn to crochet with wire. Fill your
little creation with recycled glass pieces and you will have a fun new
rattle to take home. Receive materials for 3 different rattles.
Tools required: Metal ruler, cutting mat.
Wired and Beaded

One day class
Knitting and crocheting experience is helpful
Working with the unusual materials of copper wire
cloth and copper wire, learn to knit and crochet with wire. The wire cloth
is cut and heat treated for unusual color effects. Glass beads add a touch
of sparkle and make your wire vase a treasure to have.
Tools required: Metal ruler, cutting mat.
Wire and Fire
Two Day Class
All Weaving levels

For something really new and exciting, learn to
manipulate wire screen and magnet wire. Explore the techniques of annealing
the metal, incorporating fiber techniques with wire and working with different
mesh screen for different effects. Flashes of heat produce interesting
colors, and make the screen moldable, so things that dont seem possible
can be accomplished. A variety of magnet wires (color and size), as well
as various screens will be provided for maximum experimentation by the
students. Also provided are various metal parts which I have collected
and salvaged, giving students ample materials to play with.
Students will experiment with, and learn the techniques of knotless netting,
multiple strand braiding, and surface embellishment. Also covered are
knitting and crocheting with wire to produce lacy effects.
Tools: Optional, (I will bring what is needed with me, but if students
already have their own and wish to bring them it would be helpful), small
wire cutters, chain nose pliers, (jewelers size), small propane torch,
cutting mat, utility knife, metal straight edge, metal burnisher, large
clamp.

We will be working with fine wire cloth from 16
mesh to 200 mesh, and fine wires, sizes 32-28 gauge. Bring metal objects
that you might wish to work with, beads of various sizes that will go
with the wires, and charms. Tweezers, hemostats, magnifiers and work
gloves might be helpful.
Wish Watch Necklace
All Weaving Levels
One Day Class
With large recycled glass beads, wire cloth, and
wire, make two necklaces. The first incorporates the wire cloth and
a charm of your choice, and the second involves a random knotless netting
technique using wire. With one of these necklaces, incorporate a watch
face and make your necklace a watch that you can wear around your neck
instead of your wrist. Both necklaces are finished by knotting waxed
linen into a unique cord, which is finished using a metal bead.

Using Marilyns unique method of color blending
using copper wire for spokes, explore the use of fine magnet wire as a
twining material. Your Maple Leaf will glow when the light hits it. If
desired twine in a sterling silver pin which will turn your leaf into
a brooch. Twining skill is necessary.
Students should bring: Small wire cutters, micro
clips, chain nose pliers, Embroidery needles sizes 1-5. Clamp on light
and extension cord are optional, but useful.
